Ellen Kolber, MS, MA, OTR, CHT
Ellen Kolber is the principal and founder of ErgonomicsNYC, formerly Diversified Ergonomics, an ergonomics consulting and evaluation practice in NYC.
Ellen has over 20 years of ergonomics consultation experience. Her background and training inform the way she views function and analyzes work performance. Her occupational therapy foundation provides her with a basis for understanding the complex components that influence functional performance.
Ellen utilzes a variety of means to assess environments, tools and individuals and in making recommendations to improve function. She employs engineering controls, statistical data and an educational frame of reference to provide information for managers and end-users to empower change.
Her specialty training in ergonomics and hand therapy affords a technical basis for prioritizing objectives and providing effective recommendations and solutions. She has the skills to address performance along a broad spectrum of functional levels and impairment; this includes workplace wellness and prevention at one end of the spectrum and the needs of individuals who face injuries, conditions or other physical challenges, at the other end of the spectrum.
Ellen has a BA in Psychology and Special Education, MS in Occupational Therapy (Columbia University) and an MA in
Biomechanics and Ergonomics (NYU). She is a Certified Hand Therapist at at Orthology in New York City. She provides a broad aray of ergonomic consultation services to individuals, corporations, insurance companies and design and architectural firms among others. Ellen lives with her son in Brooklyn, New York.
