WHAT IS AN ERGONOMICS CONSULTANT?
The International Ergonomics Association defines ergonomics as
the discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system
the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance
Ergonomics is frequently defined as addressing the "fit" between the individual, the equipment and tools and the demands of the environment.
It is a multidisciplinary field drawing on the contributions from engineering, psychology, biomechanics, design, anthropometry, epidemiology, physiology and a new field, human-computer interaction. The benefits of applying ergonomic principles is seen in a broad scope of industries including, manufacturing, service and financial sectors as well as influencing the design of consumer products, technology devices, computer software and hand tools and utensils.
